The rectors of the universities in Tromsø, Bodø and Bergen also joined the debate as well as Mr. Erling Kvadsheim, Norwegian representative in the Arctic Economic Council.
Mr. Frank Bakke-Jensen (MP) and Mr. Eirik Sivertsen discussed current challenges in the North. Despite some disagreements the two agreed that the High North is a high priority area for Norway, domestically and foreign policy.

Rector Anne Husebekk talked about the role of universities in creating knowledge about the North and a competent work force. Ms. Husebekk also presented the report "Growth from the North"

Mr. Erling Kvadsheim, director in Norwegian oil and gas and Norwegian representative to the Arctic Economic Council, talked about the role of the AEC in building cooperation between business representatives operating in the Arctic and as a partner for discussing sustainable business development in the Arctic with the Arctic Council. The AEC will open a secretariat in Tromsø 8 September.
